It's the part of it where they show clips of those who've passed away. This was truly a sad year for entertainment. The passing of Charleton Heston alone would make it a dark year, but to also lose Paul Newman and Sydney Pollack. Giants are now gone that will never be replaced.

Yes, the movies were so mediocre, that although I'm generally a big movie-goer (if that's even a word), and am always annoyed if I miss any of the biggies, I've only seen Dark Knight, Changeling, and Slumdog Millionaire, and don't feel like I've missed anything.
*sigh*
A really weak year for Tinsletown.
It feels hollow, I agree.
